Aquatic Invasive Species

Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM) is the most common invasive aquatic plant in Twin Lakes.

Feather-shaped leaves are divided into 12 or more pairs of slender leaflets. Leaves are arranged in whorls of 4-6 around the stem. Stems and leaves tend to be limp, often with some pinkish color at the end.

Small patches of Eurasian watermilfoil can be easily removed by hand. The base of the plant and roots must be removed, and all parts of the plant should be disposed of away from any water body.

Additional information on invasive species can be found by clicking the link below.

Twin Lakes Management Plan

In 2020, the Conservancy received a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to create a lake management plan. TLC brought on board Onterra, LLC, a lake management planning consulting firm, to develop scientific data about the lakes, and guide the creation of our plan.  Since that time, a group of Twin Lake Conservancy members, under the direction of Onterra, have created a draft implementation plan which represents the path that TLC will follow to meet our lake management goals.

The Twin Lakes Management Plan is now complete and has been accepted by the Wisconsin DNR. It includes extensive information about the health of the lake and a step by step plan for improving lake health.  Click on the button below if you are interested in receiving an emailed copy of the report.

FISH CRIB PROJECT Winter 2024/25

  • Our Fish Crib project was successfully completed this winter. Many thanks to all those who volunteered!
  • This habitat provides safe nurseries for the fish that are native to Twin Lakes.
  • Our Fish Crib was constructed using dead trees found around the lake.
  • The log box was built on the frozen west lake. It was weighted and filled with small dead trees.
  • When the ice melted, down the fish crib went! However, it unexpectedly resurfaced this spring.
  • We will be working to re-sink the Fish Crib on Saturday, May 3, 10am. Volunteers are needed, please help if you are able.
  • When re-weighted and re-sunk it will not be seen nor will it interfere with boating or swimming.
  • For more information on our Fish Crib Project or to learn how you can help with future projects, please click the link below.
